Judo Success - Alicia Strikes Again! This weekend, Alicia competed in the British National school's event. Weighing in at 44kg, there was no one on her category to fight, so she was asked to fight in the weight category above. This meant she would be fighting heavier players. Despite this, Alicia went out and represented Priory Pembroke on a national stage making her way through the knockout stages to the quarter finals, then the semi, then the final, winning all her fights by Ippon and ultimately winning the group for Gold! Alicia was fighting in the year 10-11 under 48kg category. Another huge achievement for Alicia! There were a number of players from the Federation in the competition, some from Priory Lincoln and Priory LSST. They have all done the Priory and their schools proud. Alicia is due to fight in Belgium in May for Great Britain and has numerous squad training sessions to attend, showing her dedication and commitment to the sport. Alicia also returned to the competition on the second day to help coach and support members of her club, Cherry Judo Club, showing her passion is more than just that on the tatami. Well done, Alicia!

1 day agoWhat a wonderful week we have had celebrating books and all things reading at Pembroke! All students in year 7 have now chosen a free book - with year 8's turn next week - World Book Day vouchers have been distributed, and the final breaktime event was the Big Book House Quiz today. This was clearly too easy as all four Houses tied for first place this year! Well done to everyone who has joined in and to the fantastic student librarian team for their help with all the activities.
