Spin For Children In Need
We launched our Children In Need fundraising a week early due to year 11 mock exams next week. So today we had our house spinathon. Each year group created teams for their house where we aimed to cycle to Pembroke in Wales and back. Students wore cycle helmets to promote cycle safety in support of the Ryan Smith Foundation. Ryan was hit by a van when on his bike back in 2013 and sadly due to not wearing a helmet, he was left with brain damage. But he has overcome the inevitable with the support of Children In Need. With so many of our students cycling to school each day, we thought this was an important message to get across to ensure all our students are safe.
It was great fun! Each house team had the same playlist, where we hill climbed and sprinted - the motivational pictures of their heads of years made us all laugh. At one point we were chasing Mr Bibby downhill because he had stolen our doughnut... the wonders of photoshop made us laugh whilst we were desperately pedalling to get the miles in.
We will continue fund raising next week. We will be having a spotty themed quiz for forms to enter and also a 'design a pudsey' competition. We will reveal the house spin winners and totals raised next week.
